February 1992

Dear Ramblers,

I have to begin by saying a big THANK YOU to those who helped us to make the Christmas party a success; there are four or five in particular apart from Committee members, who earned a gold star for their crown in heaven - I won't embarrass them by naming them here, however. We learnt by our experience this year so hope that it will be even more enjoyable for everyone next year.

Enclosed you will find a copy of last year's accounts which show the Club to be fairly healthy financially but we do need those of you who have not yet renewed your subscriptions for 1992, to do so without further delay, please. Thanks to those who've made an additional donation to Club funds also. THOSE WHO ARE STILL DUE TO RENEW PLEASE SEND A CHEQUE PAYABLE TO 'St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Ramblers' to PETER LOBO, 84 Hebdon Road. Tooting. London SW17 7NN. Membership

is still only (3, but (4 if you would like one of our colourful badges as well.

We welcome as new members; Frank Crowley, Mary Deegan, Marie Fernandes, Beryl & Mary Granger, Helen Hunt, Joy Keen, Simon Livesey, Finbar Murphy. Mary McOuaid. Tim Stacey, Anthony Davis and Martin Payne. We hope that they will enjoy many happy rambles with the Club.

Shortly after joining, Mary Deegan and Marie Fernandes decided to take time out on extended trips to Ireland and India respectively. We wish them well and look for- ward to their return. We wish the same to Maureen Furlong who has returned to Poland - it was nice having her amongst us again for a few weeks. Good wishes go also to Anne Walsh who has returned to Scotland; happily she is going to remain a very active member, helping with the address for this communication and we hope to see her from time to time.

We are arranging a Day of Recollection for the Ramblers in June this year instead of during Lent. ~t will be on June 21st at Emmaus Retreat Centre. West Wickham, Kent. Further details will be in the next communication but the cost is (3 if you are bringing packed lunch and (10 if you would like a set meal. Those interested are requested to send/give a (1 deposit to PAUL BRUNNING BY THE END OF APRIL.

Angela Polley is arranging for a group to stay in Belmont Abbey, Hereford, for Easter - the cost was £45 last year; if you want to be included, please contact her by the end of February. Tel: (0232 - 61-24-73) between 9 & 10 p.m. or contact Fr. HcGurk at Belmont Abbey, Hereford, HR2 9RZ Tel: 0432 277475.

Finally, some ramblers do still meet on the 3rd Friday of each month at Leicester Square Underground booking hall at 6.39 pm so why not join them for a meal and. a friendly chat?

Any other ideas for socialising and more don't leave it all to the Committee!

Happy Rambling
