Margate to Ramsgate

Meet: London Victoria 8.55 for 9 10 train to Margate, calling at BromleySouth 09 27 and arriving Margate 10.53. Ramblers can also use the high speed train from St Pancrs International 09.27and arriving Margate 10.53. Ramblers can also use the high speed train from London St Pancras International departing 09.20 calling Stratford International 09.27 and arriving Margate 10.59.
Lunch: The Captain Digby, Kingsgate Bay beach.
Tea/Opt Out Short stop at Broadstairs for ice creams/refreshments where ramblers can opt out if they wish. The station is a short distance from the beach. There is a train service back from there to London terminals.
Or The Royal Pavilion (Wetherspoons) Ramsgate at end of the walk.
Distance: About 9 and a half mile linear walk returning from Ramsgate. between between Margate and Ramsgate. It is mostly along the cliff top path with views over the channeland takes in several secluded coves. There are a couple of flights of steep steps to negotiate en route.

Train is from Blackfriars direct at 1016, and the leader will get on Bromley South 1053 hrs.
Walk along the Old Pilgrims way to Shoreham.
Lunch; Crown or Samuel Palmer pub in Shoreham Village, or bring your own to have in Church Yard.
Then up into woods , slight climb, back to Shoreham Village, and home from Shoreham Station.
Miles ; approx 7 miles.

Meet: Charing Cross 0815 for 0834 train to Chilham (arr. 1009). Also calls at Waterloo East 0837 and London Bridge 0843. OR 0907 high speed train from St Pancras International, also calls Stratford International (0914) and change at Ashford Int'l for the (0957) train to Chilham, arriving (1009).
Coffee: No facilities en-route for a break at midpoint. However, St Lawrence the Martyr Church in Godmersham, has kindly allowed us to use their hot drinks facility and chairs to have a break. Ant will bring along some coffee and milk and we will leave a small donation. Please bring along a snack to have here. There will be toilet facilities at St Lawrence the Martyr. Late lunch (3.30pm): The White Horse pub, OR The Church Mouse Tea Rooms in Chilham. Benches nearby to eat your own at St Mary's Church graveyard.
Distance: 8 scenic and moderately hilly miles with no stiles. We’ll pass Edward Austen Knight’s former residence in Godmersham, visit two historic churches and a peep at Chilham Castle before returning from Chilham station.
