February 1996

Greetings Ramblers

Here we are in a new year and going stronger than ever. The number of active members continues to increase. It was nice to sce so many at the Christmas Dinner which was enjoyed by the twenty eight
members who attended. The Christmas party was held at a different venue this year and once again was very well attended by over 80 members and friends and was a great success. A Very special thanks to the Fox family for a wonderful Christmas Ramble led by Diana on. 17 December and the hospitality in their home
afterwards. All who attended very much appreciated the warmth of the welcome and the generosity of the meal provided by Helen and Diana.

New Members are advised to meet up with ramblers near the ticket office at the named station. Look out for people with boots and rucksacks. There may be other rambling groups at the station, so you do need to make sure you join the right group. We are very approachable. It may be useful to carry a whistle and torch.

Ramble leaders: Once again we have had a few new walk leaders. Congratulations to those who have taken
the plunge. Please think of taking responsibility for a walk.

Monthly Dinners: Club members meet on the first Saturday of each month for a social evening. The next meeting is on Saturday 3 February; meet outside
Westminster Cathedral after 6pm Mass. PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF VENUE FOR FUTURE MEETINGS. On Saturdays 2 March, 6 April and 4 May meet outside Corpus Christi Church, Maiden Lane
after 6 PM Mass. Maiden Lane runs parallel to the Strand on the north side, connecting Bedford St to Southampton St - nearest tube stations Charing Cross,
Embankment and Leicester Square. Contact Margaret Moran further details.

faith. This year's venue is very convenient to the Underground (midway between Cockfosters and Oakwood Piccadilly Line stations). We will have a Benedictine Father to guide us. Cost will be just £10
including a light lunch. Please let Tom Heron, Margaret Moran or me know if you hope to come.

Bumper Raffle in aid of History of the Club Project: I am delighted to
anuounce that the raffle was a complete success. The amount raised before deducting prize inoney and other expenses was £472.
