Father Higgs will be saying Mass at 7 p.m. at St.,. Joseph's,· Bunhill Row on TUESDAY, 9th DECEMBER for the  deceased relatives of the following members:­-

                                     Keeble Nicholas' s Mother and Brother

As this Mass will be on a Tuesday evening this should enable more members to attend than is usually the case on such occasions.

If you are thinking of leading a ramble please contact John Lawrence as soon as possible. If you have never led a ramble before, John will be pleased to advise you. I am told that his is a walking encyclopedia of the Home Counties.

 

SOCIAL _COMMITTEE __ NEWS

 

Due to increasing costs of refreshments etc Tuesday evening socials will cost 2/6d from 2nd December.

 

WASHING UP

 

This is not the exclusive priviledge of the members of the social Committee. If YOU are present on Tuesday evenings and enjoy YOUR tea and biscuits, it is YOUR responsibility to help with clearing away and washing up afterwards

 

SUGGESTIONS

 

The members of the Social commiee will alays be interested to hear suggestions for social activities and for offers to organise any social event.  Please giveyour suggestions.to Alf Miller.

Norah Smeaton and Jean Horan and their fast selling sales-team made a record profit o£ £58 at St. Joseph's Bazaar. Norah would like to thank all the people who contributed gifts, money or their time, The

bottle of whisky was won by one one Father Higg' s parishioners.

 

***     CHRI|STMAS RAMBLE     ***

 

On Sunday, l4th December we will once more heading for the Oast Restaurant, Otford. A salad tea at 5.30 p.m. v1ill be :followed by a Social and Hop (at which light shoes must be worn and aYchange of clothes is advisable in case of wet weather) and you don't have to do the walk to come for the evening. Names and 10/- to Maurice O'Brien by-Tuesday, 9th December please The lO/- covers the meal, the hire of the hall and a cup of coffee later in the evening"

 

***     NEW YEAR!S PARTY     ***

 

Tiifs will be held on SATURDAY 17th JANUARY 1970  The Con:vent of Mercy, Crispin Street. A buffet tea will be served from 4.30 p.m. to 6.00 p.m, and willbe followed by dancing and entertctainment compered by Tony Chainey. This should give you an appetite to enjoy the Supper at 9.00 p.m. The cost will be 5/-.

How to_get there Leaving Liverpool Stree Station, Bishopsgae exit, turn left up Bishopsgate towards Shoreditclh Take 4th turning on the right (Brushfield $treet) then the 4th turning again on tlie right and this is Crispin Street. The convent enrance is on the right.

THE ANNUAL RETREAT will be held on Sunday, 15th March 1970 at

La Retraite Convent, Clapham South.. The ,priest this year will be Father McMahon, O.F .M., who is well known to many people from his two visits to Bunhill Row.

 

 EASTER YOUTH HOSTEL WEEKEND 26th   -   30h MARCH

Richard Sumner is organising a visit to Sandown Youth Hostel, Isle of Wight. We shall be leaving on Thursday evening, 26th March from Waterloo Station and returning on Monday ·evening,  30th March., The approximate cost will

be £6. 10s. If you wish to go, please let Richard have your name and a deposit of £2. before 15th February.
