Sunday, 6th October The Annual Mass for all Club Members will be said at St. Mary Moorfields at 9.30 a.m. It is hoped that as many Club Members as
possible will attend this Mass.

 

Annual Coach Outing - Sunday, 6th October This year we shall visit Winchester, a royal and ancient city which was in existence before the Romans came to Britain. It is noted for its magnificent Cathedral which is well worthwhile seeing. For the more energetic there will be a ramble and for those who prefer to "potter around", there will be a gentle stroll around the various places of interest!

The Annual Coach Outing is a popular event so if you wish to go, please let the Secretary have your name plus 10/- deposit as soon as possible. The total cost for the day will be approx. 15/- which includes tea. We shall leave Eldon Street at 10.30 a.m. and return at approx. 9 p.m.

 

Tuesday, 8th October - ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING at Bunhill Row. This will be preceded by Holy Mass at St. Joseph's, Bunhill Row at 7 p.m. followed by Veneration of the Relic of St. Francis of Assisi.

Nomination Fcrms are enclosed with this List. The Committee is made up of four ladies and four gentlemen, including the Secretary and Treasurer. For the benefit of our newer members, the duties of a Committee Member include assisting the Secretary wherever possible in the running of the Club, acting as Duty Member in town on Sunday rambles; watching out at all times for newcomers and making sure they mix well with other Club Members (this is most important!); making sure all gates opened by the Leader on rambles are closed afterwards; carrying First Aid equipment in case of necessity, collecting tea money, assisting with the "running off" .ff the Ramble List and Magazine and carrying out any special a.uty which may have been assigned, e.g. compiler of ramble list etc.

The Committee is entitled to appoint sub-committees to help with any particular activity, e.g. social events and Christmas ent·ertainment.

No person can serve on a committee for more than two consecutive years. A copy of the Club Constitution may be obtained from the Secretary at the A.G.M.

 

LOURDES  ALL NIGHT VIGIL - 5th/6th 0CTOBER

 

Saturday, 5th_October 6.30 a.m. Mass at Cathedral then Coach at 7 a.m. .for Gatwick and so to LOURDES for the ALL NIGHT VIGIL.

 

Sunday, 6h October Eating, drinking, sightseeing (on foot, coach and plane) or just sleeping - as you wish - Back to Cathedral about 10 p.m.                    

Cost £16 + 4O New Francs. £5 deposit will secure a seat.. Applications          please by mid-September and balance by end-September to Paddy               Fitzpatrick.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  

ST. JOSEPH'S BAZAAR

 

Don't forget your contributions for the Club's stalls at St. Joseph's Bazaar on Saturday, 26th October at 3.00 p.m. - bottles are particularly needed (all sizes). Contributions can be sent to Norah Smeaton, or given to her on any Tuesday evening at Bunhill Row. Norah will be organising her usual raffles shortly before the Bazaar and we hope you will be as generous as usual in supporting them.

 

Without the goodwill of St. Joseph's, the generosity of the Parish Priest and those who look after the School, most of our Social activities could not take place. Let us show our appreciation by giving generously - NO'!

 

Sunday. 1Oth Noyember - ANNUAL MASS FOR DECEASED CLUB MEMBERS

will be said at St. Mary Moorfield at 9.30 a.m. We hope there will be a good attendance at this Mass  

 

By the time this list reaches you, mny of you will have read of the tragic Rir-crash in which among others, seven members of the Liverpool Catholic Ramblers Club were killed. Among the unfortunate victims was Irene Rawlinson who had in fact been out ram:bling with us on two occasions.

 

Our deepest sympathy goes to the Liverpool Club and to the relatives of the people who were killed  A Mass will be offered for the repose of the souls of the seven members of the Liverpool Club at St. Joseph's, Bunhill Row mn Friday, 20th September at 6 p.m.

We ask all our members to remember in their prayers7 not only the seven ramblers, but all the victims of this very tragic accident,
