Dear Ramblers,

Many thanks to those members who contributed walks to the programmes that were produced at short notice because of the FMD crisis, and to all those who came to both the emergency meetings.

It's been a sad beginning of Spring for farmers and ramblers alike with the outbreak of FMD. It makes us realise how fragile our environment can be. The following websites have so far been the best (apart from our own website which is the very best) for current information and wcalks:
www.walkingworld.com ;
www.openbritain.gov.uk ;
www.britishwaterways.co.uk;
www.open.visitbritain.com; and
www.english-heritage.org.uk.

Would be grateful to receive any other addresses that you think might be useful to the SFACRC members.

Welcome to new members:

Paul Rowntree, Streatham; Keith Evans, Camberwell Green; Julie Mastenko, Surbiton; and Gavin Fowells, London E1.

Advice to new members: Please read your introductory leaflet carefully, especiaHy about wearing suitable footwear with ankle support for your own safety, and maintaining good relations with pub owners by not eating our own food on their premises.

Massed show of Monis dancing In Relgate Priory Park on Saturday 18th August: This year the East Surrey Morris Men celebrate their 75th anniversary. Dancing will also take place at other sites. Please ring Dorothy Hickman  nearer the time for details of a Tortoise walk taking in this event.
Fr. Bames silver jubilee: Many thanks for your generosity for his collection - we were able to buy a beautiful framed image of Christ in solid silver and a plaque with his name and the name of our club engraved on it, which we presented to him on Saturday 28th April. It was a concelebrated Mass with Fr. David and Monsignor Peter Grant, and was a spiritual and enjoyable evening. Thanks also to the many people who attended and brought along food
to share. It was lovely to see you all and your efforts were appreciated very much.

HIppy Golden Anniversary to John and Monicas Dingle who will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday 21st July.
Congratulations and best wishes to both of you from the club. John joined the dub in 1947 and is therefore one of our longest standing members

Coagratulations to Catherine Chainey, eldest daughter of Tony andMaria on her recent marriage. Tony and Maria themselves met through the club.

New enquiries : It is wonderful to see so many members introducing their friends to the club please remember when you let a new contact have a copy of current programme to pass their name and address to one of membership seaetartes. They then get the normal introducyory letter and Ieaflet  containing essential information about rambling.

YHA. Group Membership Card: The club is in possession of a group YHA card. PIaaae COIIIact HeIen in advance if you would like to borrow it for hostel weekends in case she is away at the time you need it.

RAMBLE LIST AND NEWS
COPY DATE FOR THE NEXT PROGRAMME: 20 July 2001

Thank you to everyone who under the current difficult circumstances has helped to make this programme possible. Until there is a clear and unequivocal confirmation from Government, that access to footpaths in the countryside is
allowed once more, we will have to work on the premise that the next programme needs to be produced in the same fashion as this one. It is frustrating but we must strive to ensure that
there is something happening every weekend.
Don't forget that the summer train times will be in effect throughout this programme. Please bear with the leaders if there is any variation to what is shown as the new times were not available during the preparation of this programme.
