SEPTEMBER - NOVEMBER 1997

Hello Ramblers,

By the time you read this we will have had our summer party. I am sure as with the previous parties it will have been a great success.

A.G.M.

This is the formal announcement of the A.G.M. This year it is being held on October 4th at 3pm in the Holy Appostles Church Hall, Cumberland Street, Pimlico. Nearest tube is Pimlico - Cumberland Street is eight minutes' walk down Lupus Street. We will be electing a new committee which needs to have four gentlemen and four ladies including the Secretary and Treasurer.
Nomination forms are enclosed with this programme. Please send them to Paul Brunning to reach him by 20 September.

I am sure there are a few members out there who would like to serve on the committee. I have certainly enjoyed my four years and have made a lot of
new aquantainces and friends. It is only fair that everyone gets a chance to serve on the committee so if you think you could devote a little time every
three months we would like to see your mame on the nomination list. This is also the time members get to air any views or problems so it would be good to see as many members as possible at the meeting.

The AGM is followed by 6pm. Mass in the Holy Appostles Church, Winchester Street which runs paralell to Cumberland Street. This Mass
is offered for the intentions of club members.

Mass will be followed by our monthly meal in The MOVE N PICK Restaurent Bressington Place, (off Victoria Street) opposite Westminster Cathedral on left side of road. Booking can be made through Tom Heron or Patrick Lucas.

MONTHLY DINNERS:
Club members meet on the first Saturday of each month for a meal at a Central London Restaurant (not too expensive). Meeting place is outside
Westminster Cathedral after 6pm Mass. Contact any committee member for details. The next three will be September 6th. Outside Westminster
Cathedral. October 4th (after the A.G.M.and Mass for the Members of the club.) in Pirnlico. November 1st. (after the Mass for deasesed members of the club) also in Pimlico. It would be nice to see a good
attendance at both Mass's and meals.

Please note : Meals for October and November need to be booked in advance.

Monthly Informal Socials: On the second Friday of every month beginning 12 September there will be an opportunity to meet other members
socially at a Central London Pub. The venues selected will serve food until at least 8 30. Make a note of the following dates and venues:

Friday 12 September - "Jack Homer", 244 Tottenham Court Road (nearest tubes Goodge Street, Warren Street and Euston Square).

Friday 10 October - "Buckingham Arms", Petty France SWl. Very close to St James' Park Station (just beyond the Passport Office).

Friday 14 November - "Sir John Oldcastle". A new Wetherspoon Pub just 50 yards to the right outside Farringdon (Circle Line and Thameslink)

Station.

No need to book for these evenings; just turn up from 6 30 onwards and look for either Paul Connolly or Tony Finnegan. For more details or
to make suggestions for future venues ring either Paul  or Tony

Condolence to Margaret and Denis Moran and the Crowley family on the recent death of Denis Crowley, Margaret's brother.

Fr Russell: I recieved the sad news of the death of Fr. Alastair Russell on Ascention day. Former Parish Priest of the Holy AppostIes Church in Pimlico from 1983-1994. Fr. Russell took a great interest in our club and often made an appearance at our parties. Please remember him in your prayers. RI.P.

Gillian has now completed her move and has written the following:
'The boxes are still stacked low. 'Cos I dont want to go. From a one bedroomed flat into a Studio-small at that! I hired a van. I hired some men but so much to do. even then. Bed. Sofa. Table and Chairs, only up one flight of stairs. Will it go? Will it fit? Yes if move the sofa a bit. Walking boots, clothes and books. Packed in cupboards, hang from hooks. Papers for this, papers for that. I've even found my wolly hat. It doesen't matter
whe;e I look. I just can't find my cheque book.

Very close to Shepherds Bush, yet at night - such a hush! But every evening I have heard for over an hour - a Blackbird! Still I go back to Gorden Court. Slowly I empty cupboards. and sort. Bitby-Bit I will go on the bus number
220! Good luck on your move GilIian.
