ST. JOSEPH'S BAZAAR You will be pleased to hear that the Club's two stalls made £42 this year, due to the efforts of Jean Horan and Norah Smeaton and those who gave their assistance in other ways.

 

Before outlining our main social events, the new Committee would like to thank their predecessors. for such excellent services rendered throughout the year.

 

TUESDAY EVENINGS:     Time; to spare after work? Then join us for a meal at the Copper Kitchen Restaurant. Situated almost opposite St. Mary Moorfield's, Eldon Street, this restaurant is -open until 7 p.m. For those who finish work rcarly there is Holy Mass each evening at 5.30 p.m.

 

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that social events at Bunhill Row commence at 7.30 p.m. unless otherwise stated, and we would rcspectfully request that members make every effort to be more punctual in ordor that these activitics mnay get under way at the; appropriate time·

 

CHRISTMAS RAMBLE·  Sunday, December 18th. There will b¢ a hot light meal after the.ramble'at 5.50 p m. at The Oast Restaurant, Otford. Tickets at 6/- must be obtained from Maurice O'Brien before Saturday, December l0th There will be a social cvening and "hop" at which light shoes MUST bc worn. Admission for this will be 2/-,: If you wish, you may join us for tea· and/or social only.

 

CHRISTMAS PARTY· Saturday, January 7th 1967. The party will be held as usual at the Convent of Mercy, Providence Night Refuge, Crispin Street, E.1. Directions are as follows:-

 

Leaving Liverpool Street Station, Bishopsgate Exit, turn left. up Bishopsgate towrards Shoreditch. Take the 4th turning on the right (Brushfield St.), the 4th turning again on the richt and this is Crispin Street. The convent entrance is on the· right.

 

A running buffet will be served from 4.30 p.m. to 5.45 p.m. after which we shall begin our traditional fun, games and dancing. A charge of' 5/- will be made at the door. We shall be pleased to receive any offers of help for the preparations on Saturday morning. Dorothy Hickman would a.lso be grateful for any kind offers in advance for home made savouries and cakes etc.

 

HOLIDAY MEETING: Tuesday, January 10th 1967. If you have any ideas for a Club Holiday this year, please bring them to the Meeting. Any definite proposals, brochures, prices etc. will be a great help.

 

DINNER & DANCE Saturday, February 4th 1967 This year this will be held at Schmidt's Restaurant, Charlotte Stret. Dress is optional but this is one opportunity in the year for the ladies to look their most glamorous. Tickets at 25/- are.available from any member of the Committee.

 

DAY OF RECOLLECTION: Sunday, February 26th 1967.Tis will be held as usual at La Retraite Convent, Atkins Road, Clapham Park, SW.12. The cost will be approximately 10/- which includes lunch and tea. The day will commenc at 11 00 a. m with the first conference followed by Holy Mass at twelve noon, Th Retreat ill be given this ear by Rev. Fr. Philip Leonard, S.J. Directions to the convent are as follows;-

 

Take the Northern Line underground to CLAPHAM SOUTH, (about 25 mins from Bank or Charing Cross). Leaving the station, turn right into Balham High Road and turn left at the 5th turning, ( Dinsmore Road), Walk down this road to Cavendish Road and Atkins Road is almost opposite. The convent entrance is on thq right. 

 

If you intend to come, please let Jill have your name before February 12th.

 

EASTER 1967: March 23 - 27th 1967. Richard Sumner is organising a Youth Hostel party to Sandown, Isle of Wight. We will leave on Thursday evening, March 23rd from Waterloo Station. The cost will be approximately £5.10. Od. If you are interested, please contact Richard  with a deposit of £2. 0. 0. before January 31st. It.may be possible to book accommodation in a nearby hotel and further details on this will be available at a later date.
