ANNUAL CLUB MASS AND COACH OUTING

The Annual Club Mass will be oelebrated at St. Mary Moorfields, Eldon Street, E.C. 2. on day.September 30th at 9.30 a.m. This is a week earlier than usual, thereby avoiding 'the usual clash with the All-Night Vigil to Lourdes (see below) and, it is hoped, enabling more members to attend both functions.

Please ako a speoial effort to come to the Mass, which is followed by a coach outing to the Regency Exhibition at the Royal Pavilion, Brighton (this is the last day). The coach will leave from outside the church at 10,30 a.m. sharp and will stop for lunch at Poynings for one hour en route. From here members will have the choice of

continuing on the coach to Brighton or enjoying a short ramble over the South Downs led by Richard Sumner. For the return journey the coach leaves the Royal Pavilion at 7 p.m. The Coach fare is £1.00 and you may reserve your place by forwarding this amount to John Lawence or any member of the Committee.

ALL NIGHT VIGIL TO LOURDES (Sat 0ct 6th/Sun 0ct 7th)

If you are interested rn taking part, please get in touch with Paddy Fitzpatrick who ia once again getting a group together. Please write: Miss N.K.Fitzpatrick MBE. It is hoped to include travel details and prioe in the next list which will be sent out with the A.G.M. agenda towards the end of September.

Support from the Club for this annual function has diminished sadly in recent years, Perhaps the change in the dates of the Annual Club Mass and Coach outing will result in a turn for the better this year.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Annual General Meeting of members will take place at St. Joseph's School, Bunhill Row on Tuesday 9th October at 7.30 p.m. following Holy Mass at 7 p.m. in St. Joseph's Church. ALL MEMBERS .ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND THIS MEETING IF THEY POSSIBLY CAN.

NOMINATIONS for the new Committee should be received by the Secretary not later than Tuesday,Sept. 25th.  For your convenience a nomination form is attached to this list.

New members may like to be told that the Committee consists of four ladies and four gentlemen, including the Secretary and Treasurer.      Members may have special responsibilities as shown at the heading to this list and they also act in turn as duty members on rambles (looking after prospective members, ensuring gates are shut and seeing that everyone follows the same route as the leader) and assist with the running off the quarterly lists and the magazine. No member may serve more than two years in succession, so you may allow your name to go forward with confidence, knowing you will not be 'stuck for life' with the job. If you enjoy Club activities please give a hand running them by serving on the Committee (if elected) or on the Social Sub Committee (see below). If for any reason you don't enjoy Club activities as much as you would wish membership of the Main Committee or Social Sub-Committee may help you to change things to your liking, The Social Sub-Committee is appointed by the Main Committee and is responsible for arranging the Tuesday evening and Saturday events. Although elections are not held for this Committee the Secretary would be pleased to hear that you are willing to be appointed and if so will pass your name to the newly elcted Secretary. Please let him know particularly if you feel, able to undertake the duties of Secretary or Treasurer of this Sub-Committee, Remember that many hands make light work and unfortunately this past year the very few hahds available have made it very heavy going, as not only has the Sub-Commiittee been very much below strength, but also some of the members have not been able to give more than token service, Let us look forward to better things in the year ahead.

S0CIALS AT BUNIILL ROW

We ae pleased to report a small improvement in attendances at Bunhill Row. We have not actually lost money on any of our last three meetings - every meeting this year before this did so! Please oome everytime you can and help the socials to be self supporting. You will enjoy yourself and you may win a pound note.

At every meeting a name will be drawn from an envelope containing the names of all paid up members, and the bearer of that name receives a pound note. There is only one condition - he or she must be there when the draw is made,

Two members have been unluckly already, Helen Kars on June 12th and Linda Gribble on July 10th had the good fortune to have their names drawn and the misfortune not to be there to.receive their prize.

Don't miss out when your name is drawn - come every time aml make sure of it! !

ST. JOSEPH'S BAZAAR AT BUNHILL

We are greatly indebted to Father Higgs for allowing us to use his schoolroom for our functions and one of the ways we can show our gratitude is by our support for his annual bazaar, Last year Norah Smeaton and her team of helpers raised £60 on their stalls and we are hoping for even better things this year. The date this year has not yet been finalised but is usually in late October, It will be given in the next list.

Meanwhile, Norah will be very glad to receive any gifts or donations for her tombola or children's stall, You may give them to her (or a Committee member) any Tuesday evening we meet at Bunhill Row or send them to her at her home address. Remember that no gift or donation is too small,

SOCIAL SUB-COMMITTEE MEETING

Would members of the Social Sub-Committee please note that a meeting of the Committee will be held at Burhill Row on Tuesday September 11th et 6.45 p.m. far the purpose of arranging the social programme from October 10th to November 30th.

If any member of the Club would like to suggest a function or activity, please send your idea to Daphne  or tell any member of her Sub-Committee.

DUTY MEMBERS ON RAMBLES To avoid the uncertainty caused by appointing "New Committee" as Duty member for all the rambles from Oct, 14th to the end of November this years Committee is setting a precedent in accepting these duties even though their period in office may have ended.
