INCREASE IN SUBSCRIPTION APPROVED BY ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Annual General Meeting of members approved the increase in the subscription to £1.00 per annum. In asking for this to be approved the Secretary explained that apart from covering the very serious deficit suffered in the previous year he expected that the Club would be able to make more realistic offerings for Holy Masses and also in the short term reduce the cost of the Christmas Party and the Annual Day of Recollection by charging only for the food and meeting the other expenses from the Club funds. Members are asked to note however that Club funds are now at a very low ebb and that very large expenses have to be met between now and Easter. At Easter last year more than 100 members had not renewed their membership who eventually did so and if the same thing happens this year with our depleted balances the Club will be in

debt. This is an unfair burden on the Treasurer and it is hoped everyone will help to avoid it by sending off their subscription to Dorothy as soon as they can.

OUR SINCERE SYMPATHY is extended to Teresa O'Brien, her sister                                                        Ursula Pollock, Bernie Doran and Charles Litt all of whose mothers have died recently. The Club has arranged for Holy Mass to be offered for the repose of their souls on Tuesday December 4th at St. Joseph's· Church, Bunhill Row 8t 7,30 p.m. It is hoped all friends of the bereaved memhers will he able to attend.

THE CHRISTMAS RAMBLE takes place on Dec. 16th this year and will                                          take a new form. We travel together to Riokmansworth and attend Holy Mass there and afterwards enjoy a barbecue lunch in the Parish Hall. Please bring knife, fork and spoon and plate for barbecue. After lunch Joan will lead a ramble to Croxley Green where a cup of tea will be provided at St. Bede's Church Hall to wash down your sandwiches or whatever you bring to eat. Aftea tea we shall enjoy a Social evening. If you are coming please let Joan Colthup or John Lawrence know so enough food is provided at lunch time. P.S. a change of shoes would be a good idea too.

THE ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY will he helds usual at the Convent of

Mercy, 50 Crispin Street, E1 and the        date tc remember is Sat. January 12th. In accordance with the new policy the price this year is REDUCED to 25p per adult. Children are welcome to come from 4 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. if accompanied by parents.

DIRECTIONS: To get to the convent from Liverpool Street Station, take

exit in Bishopsgate, turn left then right down Brushfield Street. Crispin Street is the third on the right. Use the FIRST entrance you come to.

Offers of help of any kind would be welcomed by Joan Colthup.

DAY OF RECOLLECTION Please make a note to keep March 3rd free for this important event. The venue will again be La Retraite, Balham and the price this time is REDUCED in accordance with our new policy to 80p per head, which will include a cup of coffee on arrival, except for latecomers. Full details will be in the next list, but you may give your name to John any time from Feb. 5th.

ANNUAL DINNER AND DANCE: Preliminary enquiries heve revealed that no saving would result from having a Disco in place of a  band for dancing and this event will therefore take the same form as last year, although we shall try tn book a different band as some members have expressed desire for a change of sound. Suggestions will be welcomed by John Lawrence if anyone cn recommneni a suitable group or trio. Meantime, please note we have again booked the K.S.C, Club for this event which will take place on Saturday May 11th. It is expected the price will be £2.65 (Doubles £5) this year, but this must be subject to revue when costs are known.

ANNUAL_MASS 1974: Members who like to plan ahead should note that the Annual Club Mass will he held on Sunday, September 29th 1974 and the ,Annut.l Coach Outing will be on the same say.
