Fred has asked me to remind you that he still has tickets for the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations at the Conference Centre on Saturday 29 September. at £12 each for buffet with wine.
HOLIDAYS
Barbara Deubzer & Tony Finnegan have arranged a walking weekend around East Grinstead - Saturday and Sunday 8 and 9 September. There may still be sleeping-bag/toothbrush accommodation left on this one. Please ring either
Tony Finnegan on 081-767 5293 or Barbara on 0342 322308.
Maurice Hickman has arranged a Youth Hostel weekend at Winchester. starting on Friday evening 12 October. I will give you all the details of this. Just call Maurice to confirm that you want to go, so that he can make a group reservation well in advance. Maurice is extremely good at planning very enjoyable holidays. and this is no exception.
Tony Finnegan is taking a walking party a little further afield to St Malo from Friday evening 19 October, for a week. Please call Tony for all information on his number above.
SOCIAL EVENTS
These often arise out of the rambles, so there's every reason to get out there.
However. nearer home, if you like fish and chips. please come to the 6 pm Mass at the Church of the Holy Rosary on Wednesday 19 September and on to the Seashell afterwards. (The thought of Jesus cooking fish on the lakeside has always fascinated me). The Church is in Old Marylebone Road N1.
Catherine.
MASSES
'Lead kindly Light •••••' As you know, the centenary of Cardinal Newman is on Sunday 12 August. On that day, let us all recall our First Holy Communion and share with him the
Presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ:
'Whatever came into being had life in Him. and the life is-the light of mankind; a light that shines in darkness, which the darkness could not overpower.'
TOM SHARDLOW
Please pray for Tom Shardlow, who died recently. and for Mrs Shardlow and their daughter Angela. Many Ramblers will have met Nora, Tom and Angela Shardlow on our walks, and
now we will have Mass for Tom at St Richard's in Chicnester at 09:30 on Sunday 19 August. Angela will meet you afterwards on Philip Evans's ramble to Amberley.
JUBILEE MASS
There will be Mass at 4 pm in the Conference Centre at Westminster Cathedral on Saturday 29 September. for all our Club members and their families. as part of our Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.
AGM
There will be Mass at 6 pm in Westminster Cathedral, before our Annual General Meeting. You may meet other Club members at Mass, before coming round to St Vincent's for the AGM which starts at 7 pm.
NOVEMBER MASS
We will have Mass for all our deceased members and their families at 6 pm on Friday 16 November at the Church of St Anselm and St Cecilia in Kingsway. Holborn. Afterwards. Paul Brunning will be taking us all for a meal nearby.
