John Burbage's strenuous walk in the Boxhill area on Sunday 14 February 2016 was disrupted at the start by forced changes in travel arrangements which have become almost a weekly occurance now. So the announcement of the walk on the home page of the website had to include the following warning:

Stop Press Announcement: Please note a major change from the arrangements contained in the printed programme - Instead of 

Meeting at Victoria Station for the 0910 train to Boxhill & Westhumble it will now be necessary to take a train from London Bridge and the new arrangements are:

Departs London Bridge at 09.15 to Box Hill & Westhumble (arr.1014) calling at Tulse Hill (09.29), Streatham (09.32) and all following stations. Alternatively departs Waterloo at 09.02 to Epsom (arr 09.36) calling at Clapham Junction and Wimbledon, and following a coffee/comfort break change for the Southern train to Boxhill & Westhumble at 10.02.

 

However the remainder of the walk was as planned by John:

 

Lunch       :  William IV, Mickleham. Good food, medium price - a Club favourite.   


Tea           :  Unlikely. 


Distance   :  8-9 calorie burning miles with some steep hills, returning from Boxhill & Westhumble. 
Fare          : Return Boxhill and West Humble £5.90, £3.15 from Zone 6 boundary, both with Network Card. John will join the ramblers en-route.

 

Happily, among the body of ramblers in attendance, large by recent standards, was our trusty photographer Antoinette Adkins  who provided the following happy memories of the day:
