Programme of Rambles / Events for Autumn 2015

(Items for the next programme by the end of October please)

This year the AGM will take place on Saturday 24th October at 4 pm in St Mary Moorfields Church Hall 4 - 5 Eldon Street EC2M 7LS.  All the Club Secretaries and the Treasurer will make a report at this meeting and will follow the same formula used at past AGMs. As per the Club Constitution a chairman/woman will be elected to chair the meeting in the event that the president cannot attend the meeting. The one item on the agenda which should deeply concern all Club members who are at all worried about the Club's survival is the election of a new committee. 'No Committee No Club'

Below is a nomination form on which members can be nominated for membership of the committee.  Each nomination form must be signed by a person nominating a member, a person seconding the nomination and the person being nominated.  Forms that do not have all three signatures will not be presented to the AGM.

A motion, approved by the committee, will be put before the AGM with the proposal that members who get their programme by email should pay a reduced subscription because no postage costs are incurred.  More of this on the inside pages.

News and Events - Autumn 2015

Annual General Meeting - Saturday 24th October

On this day, hopefully, the Club will be electing a new committee.  If you have not served on the Club committee before please give it serious consideration even if you are a new member.  The future of the Club depends upon it.  Remember no committee no Club.

The front page contains a nomination form.  Please nominate yourself if you wish to make a genuine contribution to the survival of the Club by filling in your name.  Alternatively you can nominate another Club member but be sure to get his or her permission first.

The AGM will start at 4pm with tea/ coffee and biscuits available beforehand. The AGM will be followed by Mass at 6pm.

A motion will be voted on at this meeting to make an addition to the Rules of the Club Constitution. If approved it will come in to force in the 2016/2017 Club year.  This will come after paragraph 6A as follows:

"6B  For members who elect to receive the Club quarterly programme by email the annual membership shall be the ordinary subscription minus £2."

A copy of the current constitution is available on line by clicking on the "Club Constitution" tab at the extreme right at the top of your screen or at the bottom of the list at the right had side  of your screen or on request by emailing the secretary.

Pre/Post AGM Events

It may be possible that someone will come forward to organise an event before or after the AGM.  If it is before the AGM it will probably be a walk or other outside activity.  If it is after the AGM and Mass it may be a square dance.  If an extra-ordinary event takes place this will be publicised on the website (www.stfrancisramblers.ukwalkers.com ) and  by email to those who have subscribed to get their quarterly newsletter by email.  If at present you do not receive your newsletter by email contact Maurice who will be most happy to include you.  Just go to:  mhickman@waitrose.com

Please consider receiving the Club Newsletter by email

1. It means less work for the committee

2.  You can receive updates on rambles and Club events

3.  It saves the Club £3.50 a year in postage and printing for each member.

4.  You could download it to a small ipad or other whatsit.

Sunday 29th November         LEADER: Maurice Hickman    OS map 187

Please ignore the meeting and train information given in the original programme and in the item below for this ramble. Maurice has had to shorten the walk because of our old enemy, engineering works.  Instead of the plans already published you should instead catch the 1034 train from London Bridge to Purley (arr. 1056) and then catch the 1114 bus to Redhill (arr. 1134).  Catch a further bus at 1220 (time for a coffee break? ) to Nutfield (arr. 1220).  Maurice will go to the same pub as before but the walk will now be only 8 miles. The tea time pub is near Nutfeld station.

An alternative way to go to Nutfield is to catch the 1102 train from
London Victoria (arr. Purley 1127) and the catch the 1133 bus to
Redhill (arr. 1201) .  Lastly catch the 1210 bus to Nutfield (arr.
1220). NB It is always advisable at this time of year to carry a torch as ramble leaders cannot guarantee to finish the ramble in daylight.

Meet       : London Bridge at 10.00 hrs for 10.29 train to Nutfield (arr. 1114).

The 10.17 from Victoria connects with this train at East Croydon)

Lunch     : Castle, Millers Lane, Outwood

Tea         : Station Hotel, Nutfield

Distance : 10 miles

Fare        : £7.40 Nutfield with Network Card

Maurice will meet the ramblers on the train at Redhill. Expect some mud on this walk. There is an attractive windmill at Outwood which we should pass in the afternoon.
