Following is a report of the Wedding on 13 June 1970 of Arthur and Kath Holland, taken from the August 1970 edition of the Club Magazine.

It was a memorable day when 2 very well-known members of our Club, Kathleen Marney and Arthur Holland were married.

The wedding took place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, 13th June in St. Benedict's

Church, Drumchapel, nr Glasgow.

10 Club members had eagerly "rambled" to Scotland by train or 'plane to       witness this most happy event.

The day dawned brightly and the sun was shining over this, very modern

church as the guests began to arrive.

Arthur looked very elegant in his morning dress as he stood by his best man, a cousin, waiting for his bride. Kathleen walked up the aisle on the arm of her father as the organ heralded her arrival. She looked really lovely in a beautifully-cut white satin dress, decorated rrith several rows of minµte dainty white pearls round the neckline and sleeves. She wore a billowing gossamer-like veil and carried a bouquet of pale yellow and white flowers. 3 bridesmaids were in attendance: Kath's cousin, Ann, a medical student, and 2 little nieces, all dressed in fuull-length dresses of a delioate shade of green.

The wedding service, which was simple and sincere, included a Nuptial Mass during which practically all the guests partook of Holy Communion.

As the bride and groom re-entered the church after signing the Register, the organist played a most vital and joyful march. Kath and Arthur happily smiled to their relatives and friends as they walked arm-in-arm down the aisle to the porch outside, where they were greeted by a warm caressing sun and the many well-wishers who had waited to see the happy couple.

After the taking of many photographs, bride, groom, bridesmaids and

Mr and Mrs Marney, together with their guests, were driven to the Badnor Hotel, Clydebank, for the Wedding Reception.                                         · .. ,:

The toast-master announced each guest on their arrival. When all had been received, the guests watched Kathleen and .Arthur cut their 3-tier wedding cake. A toast was drunk and the party sat down for the wedding.Breakfast, a most sumptuous feast. Speeches were made, more toasts were drunk and many telegrams were read out, including ones from the Club and from various individual members.

The tables were then cleared away to reveal a very fine dance floor.

A 3-piece band took its place on the rostrum and Kath and Arthur led the dancing to the tune "Eidelweiss. Later they managed to slip away without anyone realising that they had already left for their honeymoon. After the dancing, we all had a welcome cup of tea and. cakes and then the guests departed. Some of us were lucky enough to go back with Kath's parents to their flat, where we saw some of the wedding presents and, belieye it or not,. had another meal! We all agreed that it had been one of thehappiest and friendliest weddings that we had ever been to.

Mr and Mrs Holland have bought a brand-new house in Essex, so we may look forward to them continuing to be very active members of the Club. Both have done so much for the Club in the past. Kathleen has served as Secretary and has organised the annual Children's Party for a number of years and Arthur has been Treasurer (in Kath's year of office!) to mention but 3 of the very many ways in which they have served the Club and its members.

I am quite sure that all the members of the club will want to join me in wishing Kathleen and Arthur every happiness and God's continued blessing during a very long married life.
