On 23 May 2004 Peter Macdonald led a ramble through the beautiful windsor Great Park, having first had the courtesy to get permission from the Superintendant of Parks at the Crown Estate Office. I wasn't out myself that day and can't remember who sent me photographs but here are a few memories of the day

From the equestrian statue at the top of the three mile walk known as "the Royal Mile" Windsor Castle is but a speck on the horizon

But it gets more noticeable as Peter leads his ramble along the walk

And finally as the gates of the park loom up the fairy castle is seen in all its glory

But the route there had been punctuated by stops for conversation, sightseeing and photography
