Peter joined the club in 1974 – 75. He did three stints on the committee in the 1980s when he looked after club publicity and two years in the 1990s when he was joint membership secretary. He died on 31 January 2022.

Peter was an enthusiastic swimmer and In 1988 he led a ramble on the Summer programme which involved a train journey to Bognor Regis, a bus journey from there to Pagham and then an eight mile ramble ending with a swim. The whole day was much enjoyed and he repeated it on almost every summer programme until 1998. In that final year of his being a leader he actually had two walks ending with a swim on the Summer Programme – the other one being in Richmond with a swim in the Richmond baths. On one occasion he organised a break in Cornwall and narrowly escaped drowning in the heavy sea on the Cornwall coast. During his time in the club Peter led several other walks and attended many of the club social events. He is saddly missed by all who new him. R,I.P.
