Peter Storrow Member of SFA CRC 1993 - 94 to 2005 - 06

I first met Peter on the Arundel and Brighton Ecumenical Walking Pilgrimage in the early 1990s. At that time he would have been in his early 60s and had been suffering heart trouble since his late 40s. He bore his illness bravely, was scrupulous in obeying medical instructions and despite his illness was an active walker, took his full part in helping on the pilgrimage and one year actually drove the pilgrimage van - a heavy task for someone in any condition.

In 1993 Peter joined our club and was an active rambler for several years, falling in well with the sociable attitude encouraged in the club and travelling long distances to take part in our rambles.

During my second spell as Club Secretary in 2005 - 06 I was saddened to receive a letter from Peter saying that in view of his failing health he would no longer be taking part in our walks and from then he was no loonger a member of the club. I last saw him in 2015 at Monica McLauchlan's funeral. At that time he seemed healthy and as sociable as ever so it came as a sad surprise to hear of his death on 16 April 2016.

Peter's brother in law provided the folllowing memorial for the pilgrim website and I reproduce it here with thanks.

Peter passed away at the Sussex County Hospital last
Saturday (16th April)  at 3pm. He had been in care for just over 6 months.
The cause of death was heart failure, leading to multiple organ breakdown. Basically, the heart itself had ceased to function properly, for which there is no treatment, apart from a heart transplant. At 77 years of age that was not going to happen, especially under under the NHS. Considering he had his first heart attack at the age of 49, he hasn't done too badly, I would say.
The funeral will be on Wednesday 4th May at 12 o`clock at St. Joseph`s, Brighton, followed by burial just up the road at the Brighton & Preston (Downs) cemetery. There will be a "do" after, likely to be at the Garden Centre on the Race Hill.
It would be great to see some pilgrims there

Peter's funeral will be at St Joseph's, Elm Grove, Brighton at 12 noon on Wednesday 4th May. Patrick tells me it's about 20 minutes walk from Brighton Station.

I've dug out a few pictures from the archives.

Peter willlive long in the memory of all of us who knew him. May he rest in peace.
